There is a profile of her on the Russian Olympic Committee webpage and it has plenty of pictures and quotes from past interviews. I'm paraphrasing her quotes here, my Russian is bad so sorry for any mistakes.
She started gymnastics when she was 7. He father first brought her to the gym because her older brothers were involved in the sport. She had never seen a competition on TV, but as soon as she saw it with her own eyes, she loved it. So she stayed.
At first she cried often and was tired, but then she realized that a lot of it was about desire. She wanted it more than anything else, which helped. Who cries and doesn't want it, leaves. Her father told her to be patient, because eventually she would see it was worth the tears.
She and her father both have the mentality of an athlete. (Her father is a three-time World Champion in sambo). She knows she has a lot of work to do in order to get more difficulty everywhere and improve her execution. Her favorite apparatus is uneven bars, but she doesn't really know why. Probably because she learns new skills easily. It gets difficult only if she gains weight. Her goal is to become an Olympic Champion. She also wants to become even more successful than her father.
In 2014 she competed at the Youth Olympics, it was very competitive for the gymnasts. Earlier in the year she was at the European Championships and the team won gold, but individually she didn't do well at all. In Nanjing almost everything turned out just as she had hoped it would. Youth Olympic Games is a once in a lifetime opportunity and she was lucky that she got to go there.
In her spare time she likes to watch movies and go shopping. Her hobby is rhinestoning (gluing rhinestones to pictures). Her friend introduced her to it and she got hooked. She liked different kinds of movies and can't name a favorite, but her favorite genres are comedy and melodrama. When she's at the training camp, she tries to read books.
The older girls on the team are very supportive and give good advice.
She's still learning to cope with her nerves, it's not her best quality and she gets really anxious before a competition. Her coach and the girls try to calm her, but it isn't as easy for her as some of the others to just forget everything and talk and laugh. It takes her a long time to get focused. She's still a long way from her idol, Yelena Zamolodchikova. She has difficult routines, smiles and engages the audience.
When she was young, she wanted to be a photographer. She still hasn't ruled it out, maybe someday she'll try photojournalism.
Her parents are very kind and understanding and she hopes that she shares their good characteristics She believes that confidence, willpower and a bit of luck make a good athlete.
She has a little dog named Letty, who is always happy when Seda goes home.
She loves traveling and learning about different countries. She has visited Thailand, Italy, Dominican Republic, Scotland and Spain and she hopes that there will be more, like Brazil after this summer. She's going to do everything she can to make it happen.I'm with you there, Princess Tut, let's make Rio happen.
Just look at this cutie...with a terrified bunny.
It reminds me of another old pic... THIS.
