There Will Be an Heir

It's the middle of the night and I just realized that it has been several days now since news broke out that My Tsaritsa is pregnant and I have completely failed to mention it in any way here. So let's mention it: She and her husband Aleksei are expecting their first child and it's official, her dad said she is due in July. They don't now if it's a boy or a girl, but I have this gut feeling that it's going to be a boy. Whether or not I'm right, this is a joyous occasion in Aliyastan, our Queen is gracing us with an heir. I'm pretty sure that Aliyastan's rule of succession is based on bitchface-offs, a sporting event where people compete on who can make it to the top of the podium with the weight of most gold medals around their neck and likability among the state's cat population instead of heredity, but how could Aliya's own child not win that throne? Please. Just think about it, Aliya's mentality and charisma, paired with Aleksei's conditioning. Wow.

We all knew that V-Rod would have something to say about this, and she did. Apparently pregnancy announcement was a great occasion to ensure us that Aliya would be back to training late this year. Sure.

I of course did get curious about how long it would take to bounce back from pregnancy and giving birth and I knew exactly who I should turn to: the one and only Oksana Chusovitina. So here's Chuso throwing a double layout at the Sydney Olympics just 10 months after giving birth.

I'm still 99.9% sure that Aliya is definitely retired, but I'm going to hold on that 0.1% hope until the end of time.

In other news... Dasha and Nikita had a fake wedding to celebrate and make fun of the year of Russian weddings, but did mention that getting married was in their plans in 3-4 years, or in other words, after Tokyo.

  1. Let's hope that Aliya will follow Latynina footsteps after giving birth to her first child ;) and not to forget what Aleksei said before, that he believes in her and she's very young for a gymnast and can make 3 or 4 Olympics :p

  2. Of course. We knew that! Taking two years off; one for baby & one to recover! Mustafina is amazing at strategy!

  3. I still think she should have planned this a little bit better and gone the Latynina route earlier. Getting pregnant right before Rio would have made her fetus an Olympic Champion and given her more time to recover. But maybe she didn't want to share her gold :P
